The Art of Curling

Even though I’m not Canadian, I have been on a curling team for the last two years at our local ice rink. With the Olympics putting a spotlight on the “sport,” last week we got to be part of a TV segment (if you click to it, you have to put up with a short commercial). Unfortunately they didn’t fully recognize my talent and gave me a minor non-speaking role – look for the old grey haired guy.

Good curlers can place a rock anywhere they want – for me it’s just a series of unrelated random events. Sometimes the random event goes really well and I feel like a hero, and sometimes the rock goes horribly awry. Curling shoes are so incredibly dorky that they almost make the full circle to looking kind of cool. May we all sweep our way to a great 2010.
